about

Hi, I’m Emily. I'm an award-winning journalist and filmmaker with a focus on media that powers movements, leadership that builds strong teams, and stories that lead with empathy. I pay rent in New York, but I grew up in Texas.

I’ve worked in print journalism, commercial production, and digital media, where my pieces have focused on everything from criminal justice and social inequality to political extremism and global economics. Thus far I’ve received honors from the Reed Awards, the Society for Professional Journalists, the Hearst Journalism Awards Program, the SABEW Best in Business Awards and the Webby Awards.

You’ll find some of the video and multimedia pieces I’ve worked on at Netflix, Quartz, HuffPost, Mic, NowThis News, Animal Planet, Lucky Tiger Productions, Part2 Pictures, Time Inc. Studios and the Tribeca Film Festival. I’ve also written for the Austin American-Statesman, Texas Lone Star Magazine and The Daily Texan.

Recent clients include: labor unions; environmental nonprofits, national abortion campaigns; teachers unions; national fundraising campaigns for immigrant rights; congressional, state and mayoral political candidates; public universities and more.
